APM says Madeira is one of the safest and freest destinations in Europe to travel

After a month of opening to tourism, Madeira registers only 9 active cases, continuing to be one of the safest destinations to travel in Europe. As a preventive measure in view of the greater flow of flights to the region, the use of a mask in public spaces becomes mandatory from 1 August, but guaranteeing its non-use in cases where social distance is respected (such as sports, nature walks, beaches and bathing complexes) and in specific situations, such as the case of children up to 10 years old, "says the Madeira Promotion Association." The well-being and protection of citizens and tourists visiting the Archipelago of Madeira continue to be the priority, from an early age, of the Regional Government of Madeira, with a strong consensus and articulation between tourism and health organizations, and the tourism sector itself, given the difficult international pandemic situation.

Madeira continues to be one of the safest destinations in Europe to travel and intends to continue to be, which is the reason behind this further step. Remember that effective pandemic control in the Madeira Archipelago is a fact, with only 90 cases registered before the sector reopened on 1 July, and today we have only 106 cases in total, of which only 9 are active cases . This was one of the first European destinations to have a Manual of Good Practices to deal with Covid and one of the only worldwide destinations to advance with health certification for the entire destination, which is already in the process of auditing. Another of the measures to underline that are part of this prevention policy was the implementation of the control system on arrival at the islands, with free tests at the airport and free tests at registered clinics on the continent. The concern to humanize and make the arrival in Madeira and Porto Santo pleasant was an early effort by the Region, transforming the reception at the airport into a good first tourist experience.

The welcoming, part of the culture of this people, with a history of almost two centuries of tourist activity, remains one of the great strengths of Madeira. The excellent examples of citizenship have been countless and the feeling of well-being, comfort and freedom, based on this joint effort for security, are the best business card that Madeira and Porto Santo have to offer their visitors.
